I bought this book (kindle version) several months ago. I stumbled upon this book while searching for new books to read and Mark Sanborn caught my attention as I had read several of his books before.  Mark Sanborn is a great author and this book was published in 2017. It has three parts which contains 12 good chapters and 166 pages long. For this series, I will only cover just a bit of ideas from Chapter 4 which talking about “ Escalating Performance”. I will go through the ideas that Mark share on “ How To Boost Your Performance”. The steps include use FIT, use Feedback, Codify your performance and Track your progress. This is how I interpret the ideas…

a. Use FIT

F (Frequency). Starting is not enough… you actions must become ritual; done at specific time, specific duration and start small. That is how you have frequency.

I (Intensity) is about focus…full attention at one task and with full amount of effort. That how you want to boost performance.

T( Technique) is the how… system, method and approach of doing certain thing… keep searching and learning from others that have the achieve what you want… copy shamelessly that effective techniques!

b.Use Feedback

A common phrase that we often here ;” Feedback is breakfast of champions”.

Are you welcoming feedbacks?  Or you just listen to what you want to hear? Detach emotion from feedback and use them to your advantage. Have a system where you can collect feedback effectively. Find the truth in any feedback given.

c.Codify Your Performance

This is more of sequences or rules of doing things. Having a checklist is one of great examples in codifying your performance. Develop a checklist for any of your important job functions. of rules in achieving things.

d. Track Your Progress

Mark highlighted this critical question; ” How will you know when you ‘ve been successful?” This is important to check are your moving toward your goals or otherwise. How far are you from your goal? You must know your baseline and from there the progress is easily measured.

Call For Action

Find an App that can help you to track any new habit that you want to develop. Keep track and measure your progress for 66 days. Do not be so upset if miss out certain days…may be you try to do so much? Remember, start small and reward the progress.
